Globe amaranth is an annual which grows 1 1/2 feet tall. Native to the tropics, it is grown in the US as an ornamental. Globe amaranth has opposite leaves 4 inches long and erect branches. The flower heads are papery, globe-shaped, about 1 inch across and colored white, purple, rose and orange. Globe amaranth is used for cut flowers and in dried flower arrangements.
